Intellectual Wellness at the Harley Davidson Museum and Milwaukee Art Museum

Intellectual wellness is part of the seven dimensions of wellness. I love going to museums to tap into this area of wellness and it's especially great to go with family or friends, as it is a social experience that is beneficial to everyone.

I visited the Harley Davidson Museum today with Craig, my parents and my in-laws. My parents and I went onto the Milwaukee Art Museum after.

Despite all of us not being huge Harley fans or riders ourselves, we really loved the museum and thought it was laid out well and offered a unique insight into the world of Harley. I always enjoy learning more about my hometown history.

Below is a photo of the first Harley bike! Pretty cool!

 Loved this wall.

One of our favorite parts of the museum was trying different bikes at the end of the exhibits! Here I am looking all tough on this Harley, ha ha.

Here is Craig trying to figure out how he would ride the bike.

I love the Art Museum, so I was happy to see their latest exhibition, which featured Rembrandt's famous self-portrait. It was worth going to see that alone.

After all of that walking, I definitely had museum fatigue. I also was just tired of walking in general since I walked over 10 miles at work the last two days.

How do you like to pursue intellectual wellness? Besides visiting museums, I also enjoy reading, traveling, taking classes, learning new languages, watching or reading the news and playing games.

  1. I really need to get the MAM before that exhibit closes. It's one of the reasons we bought a membership this year.

I hated Harley but it probably wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't forced on a 1.5 hour guided tour of the museum. I would have much prefered to just explore on my own.

  2. I love being in a book club--really keeps me on task! For awhile I was watching the French News (in French) on cable TV to try to get my college French back, but we dropped the cable when the price went up :(
